With growing industrialization and urbanization, fire safety has gained relevance for maintaining a safe working environment in several establishments . Besides, various industries emphasize on fire safety to guard against loss of human and material resources crippling the overall economy. As a result , job opportunities in fire protection have grown making fire safety courses popular in India. There are now quite a good number of training institutes that offers various fire technology courses in India

Courses
Most of three jobs in fire engineering require a bachelors degree. There are also certificate and diploma courses in fire engineering offered by private and government institutes.

Eligibility
The eligibility for BE in fire Engineering is BSc with Chemistry and either Physics or mathematics or both as optional subjects. The age limit for joining BE is between 19 to 24.
For most of the certificate courses the eligibility is SSLC or +2
After +2 with mathematics , Physics and Chemistry or its equivalent examination, one can opt for a diploma in fire engineering.

Admission
The selection for BE in Fire Engineering is through entrance test and it is normaly held in May/June

Job Prospects
After completing Fire Safety courses, one can be placed in diverse arenas of work – both in government and private sectors. These include jobs in defense forces, railways, Airports Authority of India, electricity boards, CISF, ONGC, mines, refineries, petrochemical complexes, and municipal bodies. Some many also choose to become an independent fire consultant after completing a relevant fire technology course
